STATUS Toolkit Training

STATUS (Supporting Travellers Advance through Universal Services)

The STATUS (Supporting Travellers Advance Through Universal Services) Toolkit is a Quality Assurance (QA) Framework whereby organisations can engage in a process of self-evaluation and agree a Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) to support their practices in order to be more inclusive of members of the Traveller community.

It was developed based on research carried out by the NEXUS Research Cooperative in 2016 (Nexus Research Cooperative, 2016). The research, and Toolkit were primarily targeted at younger Travellers and the obstacles that they are facing today. The toolkit was funded by a Key Action 1 Erasmus+ Project and led by Youth Work Ireland, in conjunction with their partners; Involve, Youth Action Northern Ireland and An Munia Tober / Bryson.

The overall aim is to achieve the best possible outcomes for the engagement, participation and retention of young people from the Traveller community in their projects and activities. The STATUS toolkit has also been adopted by a number of Institutes of Technology to enhance their engagement with the Traveller community.
