No Shame Youth Mental Health

The No Shame Mental Health Project delivers a high quality, professional youth mental health activities to young Travellers aged 15 to 20 years nationally. This is done by promoting and assisting the voluntary participation of young Travellers through delivery of a range of innovative mental programmes, events and workshops. This project is funded through Rethink Irelands Headstart Fund. The HeadStart Fund is a three-year, €3M Fund created by Rethink Ireland in collaboration with the Zurich Foundation and the HSE.

Some of the programmes Involve have on offer through the No Shame Project are:

Youth Mental Health Advocates- Leadership programme:

The purpose of the workshops is to empower the younger generation to take control over the wellness of their own mental health, as well as to advocate for their peers. By taking part in our leadership programme, we will be reaching the next generation earlier with the goal of getting comfortable talking about openly about Mental Health. ‘The No Shame’ project is exactly as it says, there is no shame discussing mental health in the same way as there is no shame discussing our physical health.

The No Shame Board Game:

The No Shame Board Game was created by a group of teenagers from Trim, Co. Meath. It’s purpose is to break the stigma around mental health and in particular young people from the Traveller community, who are facing challenges around mental health. This award-winning game was such a success, it has been honoured at the Traveller Pride Awards 2022 and the ETBI National Awards 2023. The idea came from a campaign that started in 2017 which saw the teens create posters, a social media account and a video that went viral. With information workshops (including a Gym sized board) and free games for any group that participates.

Podcast programme

Welcome to the No Shame Campaign Podcast—a space where we speak openly, honestly, and without stigma about mental health.

Mental health is about more than just what is going on in our heads it is our emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
It shapes how we think, how we feel, how we act, how we deal with stress, how we connect with others, and how we make everyday decisions.

When we look after our mental health, we are better able to face challenges, live fully, and support those around us.
Just like our physical health, our mental health matters and it deserves our care, our attention, and open conversation.

In our No Shame Podcasts we discuss a range of topics with special guests, young people and professionals.
